Spirit of Lancashire Winter Appeal
The Spirit of Lancashire Winter Appeal aims to raise funds and awareness of the combined effects of
winter on our fellow Lancastrians who may be more vulnerable than most, especially due to natural disasters, fuel poverty and loneliness.
This important Appeal has been created following the devastation caused by Storms Desmond and Eva when many communities were forced out of their homes last year. Thanks to the great spirit of Lancashire the county came together to rebuild people’s homes and communities. The Community Foundation’s Lancashire Flood Appeal played its part by providing vital funding and support to vulnerable people, families and community groups. The Appeal in 2015 highlighted the need for a future charitable fund to help local people rebuild their lives and survive during winter.
For the past 5 years the Community Foundation has been raising funds to help support vulnerable people survive the winter. The Appeal acts as a vehicle for generous pensioners to ‘recycle’ their Winter Fuel payments and has now developed into a giving portal for anyone to donate to support vulnerable people in their communities.
In contrast Lancashire is one of the most generous counties in the country and we hope many Lancastrians will support the Appeal to demonstrate their spirit of Lancashire to support those less fortunate this Winter.
